G. John O'Hanlon

G. John O'Hanlon has thirty years of hands-on political, advocacy and business experience. He has represented interests before the United States House of Representatives, the United States Senate, the White House and a host of federal agencies and departments. Areas of expertise include appropriations, education, energy, environmental, health care, tax, trade and emerging technologies.

Beginning in 1982, Mr. O’Hanlon worked on a phone bank to raise funds for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC), Mr. O'Hanlon was quickly promoted to the position of Deputy Finance Director and established the national fundraising network for House Democrats. Commencing in July of 1984, he served as Western Finance Director for the Democratic National Committee in the general election and returned to his role at the DCCC in November of that year.

In September of 1987,  Mr. O’Hanlon was asked by the Committee's Chairman to work with Richard A. Gephardt (D-MO) on his presidential campaign. Mr. O'Hanlon served as a Deputy Campaign Manager in Finance where he was responsible for the coordination of the Congressman's Washington, DC support.  Mr. O'Hanlon entered the evening program at Georgetown University Law Center during this period earning his J.D. in 1991.

At the conclusion of the 1988 Gephardt for President Campaign, Mr. O'Hanlon served as the Executive Director of the Effective Government Committee, the leadership PAC for the Majority Leader of the US House of Representatives. In this role he was responsible for the political and financial support of Democratic Members of Congress and Congressional candidates around the country.

In 1992 Mr. O'Hanlon joined the law firm of McAuliffe, Kelly, et al., as a partner and began his legal practice. During this tenure he was an advisor to the 1993 Presidential Inaugural Committee and served on the 1996 Democratic National Convention Site Advisory Committee. He remained with the law firm until 1997 when he co-founded The Washington Group (TWG), a Washington, D.C., lobbying and advocacy company.

At TWG Mr. O'Hanlon worked directly with a broad scope of economic sectors and philanthropic causes to develop and implement legislative strategies to achieve client objectives.  Mr. O’Hanlon represented clients before the Leaders and Members of Congress and the Administration while overseeing the growth of the firm. During his tenure at TWG, Mr. O'Hanlon served as a Finance Chairman for the Democratic National Committee, as the Democratic Finance Chairman for the bi-partisan March of Dimes Gourmet Gala, Board member of the Jefferson Trust, Trustee for the Democratic National Committee, a board member for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee’s Speaker’s Club and a charter member of Pelosi 100. In recognition of his efforts to pass the historic Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Plan that was passed by Congress and enacted into law by President Clinton, national environmental groups named Mr. O'Hanlon a recipient of the Year 2000 Steward of the Everglades Award.

Mr. O’Hanlon oversaw the sale of The Washington Group to the Omnicom family of companies in 2001.  Following the completion of the sale, in 2006 he co-founded Integrated Solutions Group, a democratic advocacy firm with a primary focus in renewable energy, health care, trade and innovative technologies.  In the fall of 2009, Mr. O’Hanlon co-founded the US Renewable Energy Group, a private equity fund committed to integrating renewable and environmentally sound energy technologies into the American marketplace.

Mr. O’Hanlon remains active in Democratic politics serving on the Speaker’s Kitchen Cabinet and as an informal advisor to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and with Democratic Members of Congress.  In addition to receiving his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center, Mr. O'Hanlon is an honors graduate of Northeastern University in Boston earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Human Resource Management.
